Everything the Light Touches:
A Scarian Big Bang Event
Hello! Welcome to the first Scarian Big Bang, where writers and artists are brought together to collaborate on a selection of pieces.
What is a Big Bang?A Big Bang is an event in fandom where writers (anonymously) pitch 1 to 2 story ideas or concepts. Artists will then select the blurbs they are most interested creating for and team up with writers to collaborate and bring these ideas to life! This particular event aims to connect creatives from across the scarian community. All who apply will be accepted.
During the sign-up period participants will choose a tier of commitment they feel most comfortable completing within the Big Bang time frame.Tiers:- Tier 1 will require a minimum of 10,000 words for writers and at least 1 fully rendered piece for artists
- Tier 2 will require a minimum of 25,000 words for writers and at least 2 fully rendered pieces for artists
- Tier 3 will require a minimum of 50,000 words for writers and at least 3 fully rendered pieces for artists
We request that creatives select the tier with which they feel most comfortable. Remember, these numbers are merely minimums. Participants are allowed to create as much as they would like during the creation period. For other creations like videos, podfics, cosplays, etcetera... these minimums can be flexible. Participants will work closely with moderators to find a good fit.
Posting periods will be staggered. Tier 1 will begin posting November 3rd, followed in the next weeks by Tier 2 and Tier 3. This gives the higher tiers more time for completion and fine-tuning.

Is Discord required?
Yes. All event-relevant communication will occur on the big bang's Discord server.
Can minors participate?
Yes, although they must be 13+ in order to communicate over Discord.
How will creatives be paired up?
After the application period has closed and invitation emails have been sent out, writers will have a week to brainstorm a blurb or pitch for 1 - 2 works they would like to write. Blurbs will then be anonymously compiled in a list and presented to artists who are free to choose which works they would like to illustrate for in prefrential order.
What kind of artwork will be accepted?
Both digital and traditional mediums are allowed. Animations, cosplays, PVs, and games are allowed too! Get creative with it!!
What kind of writing will be accepted?
All written formats are allowed, though writers must surpass their Tier's minimum word requirement. Try out long form poetry, transcripts, podfics, or letters! Get creative with it!!
Can I participate as both a writer and artist?
Yes, doubling up will require at least one of your creative forms to remain at tier 1.
As a writer can I post to the ao3 collection anonymously?
Yes! We understand that some writers may want to stay anonymous or post their work in an ongoing anonymous series.
How will works be posted?
Written works will be placed in an ao3 collection during the posting timeframe.Artworks can be posted within the ao3 story as well as on social medias.Posting specifics for unique circumstances like youtube videos, games, or cosplays can be discussed with the mod team and creative's team members.
Is there an alternative to dropping out if I can't reach my tier's word count?
Yes, although we prefer that participants apply for positions they will feel comfortable working towards. Teams will be made loosely with tier levels in mind.An option to work with a pinch hitter to complete a piece in line with the intended word count will be available. If it is a matter of deadlines, do not be afraid to ask for extensions.
I'm a minor. What if I don't feel comfortable working with an adult?
Perfectly fine! During sign-ups all participants will have a choice to work strictly within their age groups.
Is NSFW content allowed?
Not at this time. Depending on interest, there may be a smaller Big Bang for NSFW content held later in the year.
How will Beta Reading work?
Those in a Beta Reading role will work on a volunteer basis rather than be assigned to individuals. A member of the moderation team or the author themself can ping for a Beta Reader when in need of general advice or a read-through.
> Beta Readers are required to be 18+
